	Alternative Solutions Custom motorized Gantry Cranes are very much like overhead bridge cranes in the fact that they have an electric hoist which is then fitted on a motorized trolley. The electric hoist and motorized trolley then move laterally on rail which is attached to the top of the bridge girders.  An overhead bridge crane's bridge girders are then connected to end trucks which allow the overhead bridge crane to travel longitudinally up and down a runway.  A motorized gantry crane has a similar setup except that is supported by uprights on either end of the bridge girder.  These uprights or "legs" are then connected to end trucks that move longitudinally up and down rail that is attached to the ground.
	Cost Effective? Custom motorized gantry cranes ride on the ground rather than overhead runways which often may result in savings directly passed on to the customer.  Because they ride on the ground, motorized gantry cranes do not require overhead runways.  Installation of Motorized Gantry Cranes often is fast and simple because no overhead structure for runway is needed.  Factors to consider when determining whether a Motorized Gantry Crane is the most cost effective solution for your company.
	Your building or facility is currently under lease and a major investment in overhead runway structure is not reasonable. Your company may be planning to relocate eventually and the cost to relocate a gantry is far cheaper than moving an overhead bridge crane system. Your material handling process requires you to move loads inside and outside of your building. You require a long runway and purchasing 100 feet plus of runway for an overhead bridge crane is not as practical as purchasing 100 feet plus of gantry rail.
